FiberCop, a wholesale free access telecommunications network open to all operators, is born

A wholesale open access telecommunications network, open to all operators in Italy, providing end-to-end connectivity services throughout the country. This is the new FiberCop, the company resulting from the incorporation of Telecom Italia's (TIM) fixed network, entirely owned by a group of investors led by the KKR fund and including the Ministry of Economy and Finance, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, CPP Investment and F2i.

The Director General of the Economy, Marcello Sala, emphasised that this operation, which confirms the attractiveness of investments in the country, represents an important step for the future of telecommunications, a sector that is intended to be protected as strategic for Italy and in which the State intends to maintain a role as guarantor.

Alberto Signori, KKR's Infrastructure Partner, Khadem AlRemeithi, Executive Director of Infrastructure at ADIA, and Renato Ravanelli, Managing Director of F2i Sgr, also confirmed the historical significance of the transaction and the strategic relevance of the partnership between the Italian government and a number of private entities, which reflects their shared commitment to accelerating the digital transition, modernising the sector, and supporting Italy's economic and social development.
